Aadhaar Virtual ID is a 16-digit temporary code that can be used for Aadhaar authentications. You can provide the UIDAI virtual ID instead of your Aadhaar number to protect your Aadhaar details from being accessed by someone else. You can provide the Aadhaar virtual ID to get your e-KYC done at both private and government organizations.
You have to generate the virtual ID(VID) to use it against your Aadhaar. The virtual ID can be generated by two modes
- Generate VID online by visiting the UIDAI's official site
- Generate VID online by mAadhaar application.
Generate Virtual ID (VID) Through UIDAI website
If you would like to generate VID through UIDAI then You can generate virtual ID by following below given steps:-
1 Go to official website
To generate VID you need to visit to official website where you need to go to "MY Aadhaar" and then under "Aadhaar Service" you need to click on VID generator link.
2 Enter your Aadhaar number
Now you need to enter your Aadhaar number then you need to enter the captcha verification that is showing in image if you are unable to read the captcha or the captcha image is not visible then you can click on captcha reload button after entering the captcha successfully you need to click on "Send OTP" button given below or if you have the TOPT then you can click on "Enter TOTP"
3 Enter OTP
Now you will receive an OTP on your Aadhaar linked mobile number,if you don't have the register mobile number then you need to update your new number in Aadhaar card for that you need to visit to Aadhaar center,if your number is linked with your Aadhaar then you need to check the network connectivity and incoming facility of the mobile, after receiving the OTP you need to enter it and then you need to select "Generate VID" and then click on "Generate" button given below.
4 VID sent to register mobile number
Your virtual ID has been successfully generated and it has been sent to your Aadhaar linked mobile number.
Generate Virtual ID (VID) through mAadhaar application
The virtual ID can be generated through mAadhaar application also if you have a smart phone then you can use the application to generate VID then You can generate virtual ID by following below given steps:-
1 Register your Aadhaar in mAadhaar application
To generate virtual ID through mAadhaar application you need to first register your Aadhaar in mAadhaar application
2 Click on "Generate Virtual ID"
After registering your Aadhaar in mAadhaar application you need to click on "Generate Virtual ID" button.
3 Enter Aadhaar number
Now you need to required to enter your Aadhaar number after that you need to enter the security captcha, if you are unable to view captcha you can click on "Try Another" after entering the captcha click on "Request OTP"
4 Enter OTP
Now you will receive an OTP on your Aadhaar linked mobile number you need to check the network connectivity and incoming facility of the mobile if you have not received the OTP you can click on "Resend" button, after receiving the OTP you need to enter it and then you need to select "Generate VID" and then click on "Generate VID" button given below.
4 VID generated successfully
Your virtual ID has been successfully generated and it has been sent to your Aadhaar linked mobile number also.
